Hillcat Theatre is an educational theatre effort of SAU 34, offering students, community members, teachers and staff the opportunity to participate in a fully developed musical production over summer vacation. It is an intensive, month+ long process, culminating in performances in the month of July.
Dramatic, technical, as well as the operational aspects of a theatrical effort are presented as educational elements. Our cast and crew usually consists of forty to sixty members, comprised of current K-12 students, students returning from college, staff members, and members of the Hillsboro-Deering Community.
Our theatre is a highly satisfying experience for all and we encourage and welcome all area residents who would like to participate in a genuine theatrical experience to come and get involved. While we are school sponsored we are not funded by the school district,we are generously funded by The Duncan-Jenkins Trust who make this effort possible.

In a swamp, deep in the enchanted forest lives an ogre who minds his own business, and does'nt like company. Life is good for him until one day, all the fairy tale characters and creatures are dumped in his swamp to live. Now he is forced to meet the king who has so rudely interrupted his life in order to return to his happy uneventful life. So begins the wild adventures of Shrek, a big Ogre with a mission to complete.
The Hillcat Theatre is proud to bring Shrek: The Musical, to the community! This lively musical will entertain people of all ages. Open auditions will be held on Tuesday, April 7th and Thursday, April 9th 2020 in the Hillsboro-Deering Middle School Media Center from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm.
